The House of People’s Representatives (HPR) approved at a plenary session a bill on a financial co-operation agreement between Tunisia and Germany.
Following this agreement, Tunisia will be given loans and funding amounting to €405 million (1.277 million dinars) that will be shared out as follows: €367 million in loan and €38 million in a donation.
The funds will aid the Tunisian government to carry out priority plans in the sectors of decentralisation as well as water and energy management, namely in inland regions.
This involves the local communities funding programme, agricultural and rural development projects near the hill lakes and the very small and medium-sized business funding programme.
The loans will be used exclusively for investment, said Investment, Development and International Cooperation Minister Slim Azzabi, adding the €48-million for local communities will be provided to newly created municipalities.
