Prime minister Hichem Mechichi stressed that the 2020 Complementary Finance Law adopted the principles of transparency and openness.
Speaking at a press conference, the PM said that the deficit was not drawn by the current government, but rather is the outcome of several years’ accumulation.”We have submitted the complementary finance law, as it should be presented with full transparency.”
He indicated that the Central Bank was conscious of these figures.
The same source pointed out that this deficit is reflected in private institutions. Mr Mechichi affirmed that withdrawing the law and reintroducing it does not mean that the deficit will shrink.
