President of the republic Kais Saied mourned the death of writer and activist Gilbert Naccache, the latter was described as the last patriot who believed in the principles of liberation and justice and fought for them till his last breath.
“Tunisia has lost with the death of Gilbert Naccache a persevering, constant and resistant activist despite the darkness of jails where he spent many years of his youth and despite the shackles that have never altered his determination, loyalty and will, ”reads a statement by the president of the republic.
Gilbert throughout his life believed in the Revolution until his last breath. History will remember him in Tunisia and throughout the world as a symbol of national liberation, and also a symbol of liberation of all humanity, adds the statement.
The head of the state gave orders to Tunisia ambassador in Paris to facilitate all procedures to bring him home where he asked before his death to be buried in Tunisia.
