Tunisia-President Kaïs Saïed receives French Prime Minister Jean Castex

The President of the Republic, Kaïs Saïed, received this Thursday, June 3, 2021, the French Prime Minister, Jean Castex, who was accompanied by the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Jean-Yves Le Drian at Carthage presidential palace.

The Head of State welcomed, on this occasion, the profoundly rooted friendship between the two nations which forms a vital pillar for raising bilateral cooperation to the rank of distinguished partnership in all fields, particularly economic, social, cultural and security, according to innovative visions and mechanisms, in a way that meets the ambitions of both peoples and serves their common interest.

In this context, he stressed the significance of further developing and expanding these relationships and improving the coordination of the implementation of joint projects and programs, in particular those related to employment, youth, migration. , sustainable development, health and scientific and technological research.

Mr Saïed further hailed the cooperation between Tunisia and France in the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic, which was recently crowned by a French donation to public hospitals and to the acquisition of medical oxygen production units which will be put at the disposal of the regional hospitals of Sidi Bouzid, Tataouine and Sfax.

He subsequently called on France to continue to support Tunisia’s efforts to deal with this pandemic, in particular by obtaining the required vaccines.
