Tunisia-President Saied speaks with French counterpart

The President of the Republic, Kaïs Saïed, received a phone call from his French counterpart, Emmanuel Macron, on Thursday, March 18, 2021, announced the presidency of the Tunisian Republic.

Macron congratulated his Tunisian counterpart on the occasion of the 65th anniversary of Independence that Tunisia celebrates on Saturday, March 20.

On the occasion, the two heads of state addressed various issues of common interest, including the epidemiological situation in Tunisia and France.

Emmanuel Macron stated that his country was ready to lend a hand to Tunisia and support its efforts in the battle against COVID-19.

Kaïs Saïed and his French counterpart likewise discussed the preparations for the Francophonie summit which will be held in Djerba in November 2021 as well as the organizational challenges that must be met in partnership between the two nations.

They also examined the situation in neighbouring Libya after Kaïs Saïed’s journey to Tripoli yesterday. The Head of State emphasised in this regard that the solution to the Libyan crisis can only come from the Libyans themselves.
