Speaker of the House of People’s Representatives (HPR) Rached Ghannouchi conferred on Tuesday with Foreign Minister Noureddine Erray.
The co-operation between the ministry and the HPR, notably through the organisation of periodic meetings with the committee of rights, freedoms and foreign relations, the examination of local and regional issues as well as the file of Tunisian expats, were at heart of the meeting, an HPR press release reads.
Quoted as saying in the press release, Erray said that Tunisia will recover its place at the regional and international scene and will defend its priorities, while seeing to it to open the channels for dialogue with focus on diplomatic constants.
Tunisia, he affirmed, will play a leading role in combating terrorism and will spare no effort to find a solution to the Libyan crisis on the basis of international legality and by ruling out the military option.
For his part, Ghannouchi highlighted the importance of parliamentary and diplomatic complementarity and the guarantee of harmony between State institutions.
He insisted on the role of Algeria in the Libyan file, affirming that “Algeria is a main support for Tunisia in all the stages.”
In this regard, the FM pointed out the convergence of views between Tunisia and Algeria, according to the same source.
