Tunisia-Rahili: “Farmers in some regions raised cries of panic as a result of declining rains” [Video]

Speaking to Tunisie Numérique, Water resources expert Hussein Rhaili remarked that farmers in some regions, such as Kef, raised cries of panic during the past period as a result of the damage to more than 100,000 hectares of major crops, as a result of the retention of rainfall and high temperatures.

Rahili added that these rainfalls will have positive impacts on agriculture, particularly because they coincide with the “watering” phase, underscoring the significance of these amounts of rain, especially on major irrigated crops and summer crops as well.

Our speaker furthermore pointed out that the continued fall of beneficial rain today and tomorrow, Saturday, in notable quantities, would also contribute to further filling of dams at a time when Tunisia is heading toward a period of peak water consumption.
