Tunisia – Saïed receives the Chinese Minister of Foreign Affairs

President of the Republic, Kais Saied, welcomed this afternoon, Monday, January 15, 2024, at Carthage Palace the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China, Wang Yi.

At the beginning of this meeting, the Head of State affirmed Tunisia’s firm position in favour of the right of the Palestinian people to establish their independent State throughout the Palestinian territory, with Al Quods as its capital.

On the other hand, the head of the state recalled the strength of the historic ties of friendship between Tunisia and China, at a time when the two nations are celebrating the 60th anniversary of establishing diplomatic ties between them.

The President of the Republic also remarked on the excellent relations of cooperation and partnership between Tunisia and China and hailed the common desire of the leaders of the two countries to raise them to the highest levels in the service of the supreme interest of the two friendly countries and peoples, stating, in this context, the numerous diverse and significant cooperation projects which have been implemented in Tunisia, with the support of China, the most recent of which is the Academy of International Diplomacy.

The President of the Republic also recollected the results of his meeting with the Chinese President on the occasion of the Arab-Chinese summit in December 2022 in Riyadh, reiterating Tunisia’s aspiration to set promising partnerships and new cooperation programs. with China in several areas such as health, agriculture, sports, infrastructure and renewable energies.

The meeting also discussed some international issues of common interest.
