Kais Saïed, President of the Republic announced, this Monday, December 13, 2021, during a speech addressed to the nation the freezing of the Parliament until the organization of the elections. Other measures include the following:
- The national consultation will be launched from January 1, 2022, with precise questions and with data protection. Further direct consultations will take place throughout Tunisia and abroad. This operation will continue until March 20, 2022.
- A commission whose members will be designated later will summarize the proposals before the conclusion of June 2022.
- On July 25, 2022, a referendum will be held on the proposals that will be summarized.
- The legislative elections will take place on December 17, 2022, according to a new electoral law.
- A decree will be put in place regarding legal reconciliation and which makes it possible to classify those implicated and the regions most in need of investment.
- The prosecution of those who have perpetrated crimes against the Tunisian state and its people.
- Justice must play its role in the greatest independence and neutrality in order to restore the rights of the despoiled persons.
