Deputy secretary-general of the Tunisian General Labor Union Sami Tahri asserted on Monday, January 04, 2021, that the Ennahdha Movement was seeking to form parallel unions to undermine the UGTT, especially in the sectors of education, health and Justice.
Mr Tahri further said that the Islamist party has sought to enter the UGTT, to be capable of better commanding what is happening there. In the same context, he added that the “government coalition” was seeking to increase the threshold of requirements so that they become unworkable while weakening the reliability of the UGTT by obstructing the implementation of the agreements settled with the government part.
Highlighting the smear campaigns launched against the UGTT, Tahri maintained that these dubious manoeuvres have already shown their failure, in the past, and that using them the old regime failed to bring down the union.
