A cut-off and a disturbance in the drinking water supply were recorded in the delegation of Sejnane (Bizerte) because of the shutdown of the raw water pumping station by citizens, announced the National Water Distribution Utility (SONEDE).
On the evening of Wednesday 23 September, a group of citizens from the Dreyssia and Cap Serrat areas (Sejnane delegation) invaded and stopped the activity of the raw water pumping station of the Zayatine dam under the responsibility of the Société d’Exploitation du Canal et Adductions des Eaux du Nord.
This incident, therefore, caused the shutdown of the supply of raw water to the company to ensure the supply of the water treatment plant in El Ketma.
SONEDE has indicated in this context that the supply will depend on its resumption of management of hydraulic structures.
She called on citizens not to use her facilities as a means of pressure, given the country’s health situation and in order to avoid water cuts, during this critical period.
