Tunisia-Sidi Mansour (Sfax): Discovery of Roman house and cemetery

The National Heritage Institute (INP) reported that as part of the reconstruction of the north-south entrance road between Sidi Mansour and Tina, a team excavated between January 3, 2024 and March 16, 2024.

The results uncovered a Roman cemetery with more than thirty tombs and a Roman house whose floor was tiled with mosaics of geometric shapes.

These two monuments date from the period between the second and fourth centuries AD.

The excavations aim to study, document and preserve what was found on this archaeological site.

The team is made up of heritage curators from the National Heritage Institute and students from the University of Sfax.

The work was carried out in coordination with the General Directorate of Bridges and Roads of the Ministry of Equipment and Housing.
