A Tunisian delegation comprised of Governor of the Central Bank of Tunisia (BCT) Marouane Abassi and Minister of Economy and Planning Samir Saied will take part in the Spring Meetings of the World Bank Group (WBG) and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to be held from April 10 to16 in Washington.
Speaking to Tunisie Numérique on Monday, economics expert Ridha Chkoundali underlined that: “the IMF might interpret the statements made by President Kais Saied that the official position of the Tunisian government is not to implement the economic reforms, and thus break with the negotiations.”
Tunisia’s participation will “help clarify the reasons behind the Head of State’s concern about the repercussions of lifting subsidy on basic products” he pointed out, reiterating that “Saied fears any threats to social peace and stability across the country.”
