Ministry of Agriculture has decided to prohibit the importation from France of cattle farms affected by epizootic hemorrhagic disease (EMD). This disease has been caught in particular in the Hautes Pyrénées, Pyrénées Atlantiques, Landes, Gers, Haute-Garonne and Ariège, Gironde, Lot-et-Garonne, Tarn-et-Garonne, Tarn, Aude and Pyrénées- Orientals.
In France, the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Sovereignty issued a ministerial decree on September 24 setting out surveillance, prevention and control measures for MHE. The goal is to stop the spread of the disease from identified outbreaks and to ensure health surveillance of the area.
Note that epizootic hemorrhagic disease is not transmissible to humans.
