Tunisia-Tunisia calls on international community to make Israel comply with UN resolutions

In observance of International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, Tunisia reiterated its call on the international community to fully shoulder its responsibility by making Israeli occupation forces comply with UN resolutions and international legitimacy.

Observed on November 29, this international day is a renewed opportunity to grasp the magnitude of the Palestinian people’s suffering amid the ongoing Israeli repression and violation of their rights, the Foreign Ministry said Saturday.

Tunisia will continue with its support to the Palestinian cause and the Palestinian people’s legitimate will to recover their non-negotiable rights, notably an independent State with full sovereignty based on the 1967 borders and Al Quds for capital.

Tunisia further reaffirmed its outright rejection of the Israeli authorities’s annexation policy and denounced a blatant breach of international and humanitarian law.

The international community is urged to act swiftly and seriously to have Israel put an end to all annexation plans and comply with the UN Security Council Resolution 2334 (2016). The latter calls for an immediate and complete halt of the settlement activity in the occupied Palestinian territories in a bid to move forward with the resolution of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.

Israeli attacks in Ramadan show the urgent need to launch serious and credible negotiations so as to establish a just, comprehensive and long-lasting peace in the region, the statement reads.

Tunisia, the ministry added, endorses an initiative to hold an international conference with the participation of all stakeholders in a bid to set in motion a real peace process based on international law, UN resolutions and the Arab peace initiative.

Tunisia also hailed the contribution of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) to easing the suffering of Palestinian refugees and commended the USA decision to resume the funding of this structure.
