Over the first nine months of the current year, Tunisia imported more sugar and medicine products and fewer cereals. These products emerge in the lists of products which registered decreases and increases in Tunisia’s purchases from abroad.
At the end of September 2023, Tunisian imports of pharmaceutical products attained 1.339 billion dinars compared to 1.290 billion dinars during the same period of 2022. Tunisia’s acquisitions of sugar and sweets nearly doubled from 365 million dinars in September 2022. to 701 million dinars at the end of September 2023.
The value of Tunisian cereal imports reached 3.228 billion dinars at the end of September of the current year compared to a value of 3.663 billion dinars recorded during the same period of last year, a drop of 13.7%.
Overall, Tunisian imports registered a decline of 3.7% compared to an increase of 35.5% during the same period in 2022. In value terms, imports reached 59,438.8 million dinars compared to 61,698.7 million dinars during the nine months of the year 2022.
