Teachers from Ibn Rachik Secondary School today organized a protest. This demonstration comes in order to condemn the acts of violence against teachers and the educational environment, particularly after the assault yesterday sustained by a teacher working in the establishment.
One of the teachers mentioned the case of the English teacher at Ksour Essef, Faten Ben Slama who was prosecuted by the family of a student to whom she had given a bad grade. The teachers further said they no longer feel safe after the savage assault on their colleague yesterday.
They condemned the smear campaigns against teachers launched by some people on social media, calling for the necessity to issue a decree criminalizing assault on teachers. Speakers criticised the unsustainable working circumstances of teachers in educational establishments as well as the lack of far-reaching reform in the sector.
