Tunisia-Young Tunisian researcher joins NASA

Ashraf Dhahbi researcher in astronomical physics and mathematics has just joined the EMAC research team at NASA’s Goddard Space Travel Center.

He now operates as a research assistant under the direction of Avi Mandell and Joe Renaud. His job for EMAC concentrates on the formation of planets in protoplanetary disks, their evolution beyond them, and the physical conditions that influence planetary processes.

After receiving his degree in astrophysics and mathematics at Williams College in Massachusetts in the United States, and winning the Milham Prize in Astronomy, Ashraf Dhahbi joined a program intended for distinguished newly graduated researchers. His appointment was revealed by NASA.

Ashraf Dhahbi presents himself as a researcher but likewise as head of the astrophysics department at the Tunisian Space Association.

He is now following in the footsteps of Tunisians who joined NASA like Salma Barkaoui, an engineer who joined the American space agency in 2022, or Mohamed Abid, deputy chief mechanical engineer within NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL).
