Tunisia – Zahi calls for unifying health coverage systems for all citizens without discrimination

Minister of Social Affairs, Malek Zahi, called Monday, during his visit to the National Health Insurance Fund (CNAM) headquarters, to operate to unit the health coverage system for all citizens without discrimination and continue reforming and speeding up procedures.

According to a press release from the ministry, the Minister of Social Affairs held a working session dedicated to exploring the operating conditions of the CNAM and the most significant problems and inadequacies registered in the provision of services for the benefit of Tunisian citizens.

He stated that, despite the activation of the new procedures related to the increase in the ceiling for reimbursement of expenses, several complaints are received, which requires reinforcing the centres at the central, regional and local levels in human capital and opening the door to recruitment to fill vacant positions in all social security funds.

He underlined the necessity to accelerate the procedures for these recruitments, particularly for higher graduates who have been unemployed for a long time, and to activate the law which allocates 2 percent of these positions for the benefit of people with disabilities.

He also emphasised the need to accelerate the opening of regional and local centers as part of bringing services closer to citizens.
