Tunisia’s parliament: conference of presidents set for October 8, Hamdi discusses opening sitting (video)

    A conference of presidents is scheduled for Thursday, October 8, 2026, to discuss the plenary schedule and key legislative texts to be submitted to the bureau of the Assembly of the Representatives of the People (ARP). Nabil Hamdi, an MP and member of the assembly’s bureau, announced the meeting in an exclusive statement to Tunisie Numérique.

     Legislative agenda takes centre stage

    Hamdi said the conference of presidents would bring together parliamentary bloc leaders, committee chairs and the ARP bureau to discuss arrangements for upcoming plenary sessions.

    Participants will also review the main legislative texts to be presented to the assembly’s bureau. The meeting comes as the date of the opening sitting of the new parliamentary session remains undecided.

    Bureau meeting ends without decisions

    Discussing the ARP bureau’s meeting, Hamdi said no decisions had been taken. The meeting was devoted to reviewing written questions and overseas missions.

    According to the MP, discussions also covered decree-laws recently issued by the president of the Republic.

    Opening sitting yet to be scheduled

    The ARP bureau member confirmed that the opening sitting of the new parliamentary session had not yet been scheduled.

    The October 8 conference will allow discussions on the upcoming work programme to continue, with no opening date announced at this stage.
