Nine months after being recognized as the product of the year and the best Rapido fiber by users, Tunisie Telecom has completed the pilot test of its 1-gigabyte optical fiber with the first 10 residential customers. These customers had the opportunity to experience the reliability, speed, and power of 1-gigabyte fiber for individuals. The test occurred in various locations across the country, including Greater Tunis, Sousse, and Sfax, involving influencers and gamers who found this technological advance transformative in their daily lives.
During an event held at the Movempick du Lac hotel, attended by Tunisie Telecom’s CEO, Mr. Lassâad Ben Dhiab, the positive results of the pilot tests were revealed to an audience of journalists, influencers, and the operator’s partners.
Lassaad Ben Dhiab highlighted that Tunisie Telecom was the first operator to launch fiber in Tunisia in 1994. In the 2000s, it was the first to connect institutions through fiber by delivering the IPMPLS service and later SDWAN to provide secure, available, and very high-speed access to businesses, public organizations, hospitals, administrations, and educational establishments through the EDUNET project, which aims to connect over 3,000 educational institutions.
He added that, 11 years after being the first to launch fiber with speeds of up to 100M for residential customers in 2012, Tunisie Telecom will now be the first to introduce fiber with a speed of 1 Giga for residential customers. This advancement opens up opportunities for new exchanges, professional perspectives, and domestic uses within Tunisian families. Tunisie Telecom is committed to contributing to Tunisia’s efforts for digital inclusion and making high-speed connectivity accessible to all Tunisians.
The commercial offer of Rapido 1 gigabyte fiber, called Giga Rapido, will soon be available to all residential customers.
