The first death related to Hurricane Ida has been reported in the state of Louisiana, Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office (APSO) said.
Deputies arrived on the scene and confirmed the person as deceased after receiving reports of a citizen being struck by a fallen tree, according to the sheriff’s office.
The hurricane strengthened into a Category 4 storm before making landfall in Louisiana on Sunday.
