US formally exits ‘Open Skies’ defense treaty

The US announced it formally its withdrawal from the Open Skies defence treaty on Sunday, one of several global treaties Washington has exited under President Donald Trump.

Open Skies was agreed just after the Cold War to enable signatories to dodge nasty surprises or unfounded suspicions by monitoring rival militaries
