WHO chief ‘concerned’ over Israel’s plans on Rafah

World Health Organization (WHO) Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus voiced his concerns on Saturday over plans by the Israeli government to carry out a military operation in the Gazan city of Rafah, as the 1.2 million inhabitants of the city “do not have anywhere safe to move.”

Posting a calling on the social media platform X, he stressed that “further escalation of violence in this densely populated area would lead to many more deaths and suffering, especially with health facilities already overwhelmed.” WHO’s chief said the organization “appeal to Israel not to proceed” as “humanitarian catastrophe must not be allowed to worsen”.
