A strong 7.6-magnitude earthquake shook the waters surrounding Indonesia’s Babar Islands, the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre reported on Monday.

The quake was located at a depth of 100 kilometers (km), about 431 km southeast of the Indonesian city of Ambon and 348 km from Tual city. Witnesses reported house floors were shaking in Timor islands, which stretch more than 500 km from where the tremor was detected.

The shake was felt as far as in Australia, according to reports from local media.
