At least 126 people have died as a result of the 6.1-magnitude earthquake that rocked an ethnic county in Gansu Province, northwest China, at midnight on Monday, according to a Xinhua report on Tuesday. The earthquake claimed another 13 lives in the neighbouring province of Qinghai.
President Xi Jinping “urged all-out search and rescue efforts and proper arrangements for affected people to ensure the safety of people’s lives and property.”
