In a phone call with his Italian counterpart, Luigi Di Maio, China’s top diplomat asserted that “some countries poison the international cooperation” and politicize the United Nations Human Rights Council.
Wang’s remarks came after Michelle Bachelet, UN high commissioner for human rights, criticized China over the treatment of the Uyghur minority in the Xinjiang region during the UN council’s 47th session.
