Chinese Foreign Ministry’s spokesperson Wang Wenbin (pictured) on Friday said that the United States represents the biggest threat to space security, stressing that Washington intends to turn outer space into a battleground.
During a press briefing, the spokesman underlined that the US has been propagating the “Chinese space threat” theory for a long time, slandering China, in order to spread its own military space power and preserve its military hegemony. “We once again urge the US to stop spreading false statements, stop its militarization and preparation for war in outer space, and truly assume its due responsibilities,” the official said.
Wang’s comments came after the US Space Force stated that China and Russia are developing and testing counter-space weapons to “deny, disrupt or destroy satellites and space services.”
