French justice issues arrest warrant against Bashar Al Assad

French justice has issued an international arrest warrant against Syrian President Bashar Al Assad and his brother Maher, for “complicity in crimes against humanity during alleged chemical aggression in 2013 in Syria”.

A judicial source confirmed to AFP that four arrest warrants had been issued for “complicity in crimes against humanity and war crimes in the sarin gas attacks which targeted Eastern Ghouta and Maadhamiyeh al-Sham near Damascus on August 21, 2013, massacring more than a thousand people,” according to what was announced by Washington and activists.

The arrest warrants target, in addition to President Bashar Al Assad, his brother Maher and two brigadier generals of the Syrian army.
