In 24 hours, 2,800 Libyans cross to Tunisia for Eid despite closure of Ras Jedir

Dhehiba-Wazen border crossing documented the entry of almost 2,800 Libyan travelers into Tunisia during the last 24 hours, a number much higher than that of departures. This inflow coincides with the festivities of Eid el-Fitr, a period when many Libyan families prefer to spend their vacations in Tunisia.

Closure of the Ras Jedir crossing

The closure of the Ras Jedir border crossing since March 19 has contributed to this increase in entries via Dhehiba-Wazen. Confronted with this situation, the Tunisian authorities have made important efforts to facilitate the passage of travelers, putting in place all the required resources to speed up procedures. Since the closure of Ras Jedir, the number of travelers who have crossed the border is estimated at around 60,000.
