Laureus Awards 2021: No Tunisian or Arab sportsman among the nominees

A surprise ! We anticipated at least to see the name of Tunisia appear in the final list of candidates for the Laureus World Sports Awards 2022. Neither  Ons Jabeur with her phenomenal career on the WTA , nor the swimmer Ayoub Hafnaoui with his gold medal in the 400m freestyle event at the Olympic Games, or even the Tunisian athlete Walid Ktila and his feat (new record 15.01s) with the gold medal in the 100m Final – T34 of the Tokyo Paralympic Games, and finally the Tunisian weightlifter Ghofrane Belkhir, crowned double World Champion (in the snatch 55 kg and in total), were picked. Unfortunately, no Arab sportsman is even among the stars of world sport, even the Algerian football team and its exceptional career with 35 matches without defeat.
