Lebanese general: Border conflict may escalate into open war

Lebanese General Naji Malaib stated that the ongoing confrontation on the Israel-Lebanese border might escalate into “open war.”

In an interview with TASS, Malaib described the situation in southern Lebanon as “complicated” and added that the spreading of the war zone that originated in the Gaza Strip might result in open war between Israel and Lebanon. Moreover, he stressed that the Israeli attacks on Hezbollah bases, which are located 20 kilometers from the Lebanese border, are a “violation of the conditional rules of conduct of combat operations in a border conflict.”
