Tsunami strikes Japan’s Yonaguni island after 7.5-magnitude quake

Following a magnitude 7.5 earthquake off the coast of Taiwan, NHK TV channel reported that a tsunami reached the Japanese island of Yonaguni.

The earthquake, which happened southwest of Okinawa, prompted earlier warnings of potential tsunamis for Okinawa Prefecture.

Details concerning the extent of damage or casualties resulting from the tsunami’s arrival on the island are yet to be reported.
