Tunisia-Ahmed Amiri: “On this date and at these prices…significant quantities of veal meat will be provided.” [Video]

In a statement to Tunisie Numérique, head of the Butchers Chamber Ahmed Amiri unveiled details of a meeting that took place at the Ministry of Commerce last Saturday. The meeting concentrated on addressing the issue of supplying the Tunisian market with red meat and lamb amid soaring prices.

Amiri disclosed that two private supply companies have committed to aiding the Ministry and Tunisian consumers by importing notable quantities of veal meat from Spain. This initiative seeks to alleviate the high meat prices currently encountered by the meat company. As a result of this agreement, the price of veal meat is predicted to drop to 35 dinars per kilogram, a substantial reduction from the current rate of 45 dinars. He emphasized that the imported chilled meat would be of excellent quality.

Furthermore, Amiri mentioned a slight delay in the availability of this meat, attributing it to coordination issues related to refrigeration trucks. He confirmed that the meat is expected to be available around the fourth day of the month of Ramadan. Efforts have been made to communicate with the supervisors of the refrigeration trucks in different states to ensure the smooth distribution of this meat supply.
