Tunisia-Aida Borgi: 71 infants were hospitalized with severe bronchiolitis in October

Professor Aida Borgi stated on her official page on November 03, 2021, that 71 children were hospitalized with severe bronchiolitis during October. She suggested that people with mild symptoms, such as fever and cough, to stay away from infants and avoid kissing or approaching them.

Among the symptoms of bronchiolitis:

  • Difficulty eating or breastfeeding
  • Breathing difficulties
  • Fever (between 38 and 39 °).

She added that if parents notice that their baby cannot breathe properly or if the colour of her lips changes, they should take them to the hospital emergency department immediately.

It should be remarked that bronchiolitis is a very infectious viral infection of the branches that permit air to circulate in the lungs. It is caused by either a respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) or a cold virus. This infection is quite common in children under 2 years old and in some cases can lead to hospitalization.
