President of the Free Destourian Party (PDL) Abir Moussi said that she is the target of death threats. Moussi expressed gratitude to all those who supported her and who denounced these threats.
In a statement to Tunisie Numérique, the MP indicated that House of people representatives press release is part of political manoeuvres since it was published after 48 hours under tension from various deputies and civil society players.
She also evoked that the parliament had beforehand issued other statements to support other MP’s, including support for Mohamed Affes. The latter represents a threat since he accused the PDL deputies of atheism, adding that this could shift into death menaces.
The parliamentary communication included terms like “enemy of religion” and “enemy of the fatherland”, which were adopted by deputy Mohamed Affes when he criticised PDL parliamentary bloc. Moreover, she believed that the presidency of the parliament implicitly conveyed a message that the people behind these threats are the “enemies of religion” and not the religious extremists.
