Tunisia-Breaking news:Tunisia reports 1 case of COVID-19,death toll hits 44

One more case of infection with COVID-19 was recorded on May 7, 2020, taking the total number of infected people to 1026, of which 600 have fully recovered, the Ministry of Health announced.

The ministry indicated that 13 tests were positive (1 new case and 12  previously diagnosed with the virus) out of the 412 tests carried out Thursday. Of these tests, 46 were done as part of the follow-up of previously confirmed cases. 25,967 tests have been carried out in Tunisia, since the outbreak of the pandemic, the same source said.

The number of deaths rose to 44. Some 382 cases with COVID-19 are still active. The number of patients in intensive care is 22 and the number of hospitalised patients is 33.

The ministry said tests are essentially carried out on persons suspected of having contracted the virus and those who have had contact with confirmed cases.

It also urges Tunisians to strictly respect the law and lockdown measures in all regions of the country in order to stem the spread of the virus.
