Tunisia-Consumer Organization confirms availability of most materials during Ramadan

Speaking to Tunisie Numérique, head of the Tunisian Consumer Guidance Organization Lotfi Riahi stressed that the Organization has an awareness program for the profit of the consumer, to avoid eagerness, particularly since most consumer items are available.

Riahi emphasised the efforts of the Ministry of Commerce to guarantee the uninterrupted availability of essential commodities in the market. For example, the ministry has actively distributed essential items like sugar and has teamed with wholesalers to ensure these goods reach retail merchants effectively.

Our speaker added that in the recent period, problems had also been registered in the level of availability of the floor material due to it not being circulated to all bakeries, calling on the concerned authorities to distribute this material.

Likewise, he addressed the notable upsurge in red meat prices, which have recently surged to 45 dinars per kilogram. He revealed that the Ministry of Commerce plans to release additional quantities of red meat to the market to stabilize its price.

Concerning vegetables and grains, the head of the Consumer Guidance Organization confirmed that they will be available, in addition to the fact that the Ministry of Commerce had decided to freeze prices in late November. As for bananas, our speaker remarked that it is not possible to know the type and quality currently, but the Ministry will do this. This time it will supplies bananas and will not interfere with the prices after the supply, which means that the price will be respected.
