Tunisia-COVID-19: 54% of cases are women

According to the watch bulletin of the national observatory for new and emerging diseases published on October 20, 54% of confirmed cases of coronavirus infection in Tunisia are women compared to 46% men.

This is more than 23,000 women against 19,654 men out of a total of 42,727 confirmed cases of coronavirus infection.
According to the same source, 2,481 caregivers were infected, or 7.4% of the total confirmed cases.
The toll of confirmed cases is divided into 1092 imported cases (2.6%), and 30788 local cases (72.0%). 10,847 cases are under examination (25.4%).
All age groups have been affected by the coronavirus with an increase in cases in the 25-45 age group.
The death rate represents 1.6% of the total confirmed cases. 17.78% of those who died were over 75 years old
The bulletin mentions that the rates of COVID-19 have increased steadily, in all regions since August 2020 with the installation of widespread community transmission: Increase in hospitalizations, new admissions in intensive care and COVID-deaths 19.
5 governorates are classified as very high alert and 13 governorates with a high alert level. 70 delegations are classified as very high alert and 50 delegations classified as a high alert.
Although the basic health recommendations apply to all alert levels, additional more restrictive measures have been deployed since 04 October 2020.
The impact of these measures on the course of the epidemic could not be assessed until the end of October.
