Tunisia-COVID-19: Germany expresses gratitude to Tunisia

In a press conference on its official Facebook page, the German Embassy in Tunisia expressed its gratitude to the Tunisian authorities for the efforts made to secure the repatriation of German nationals under the most favourable conditions during the health crisis associated to the spread of COVID-19.

“No new infection of COVID-19 has been recorded for several days in Tunisia. The latter consequently transcends all fears of an acute health crisis. This is due to the responsiveness of the Tunisian authorities who immediately closed the sea, air and land borders. Nevertheless, hundreds of German nationals were stranded in many places in the Republic of Tunisia and hence unable to return to their country due to the sudden halt of air transport. The first repatriation flight was programmed by the German authorities on March 18. Then, around 9 other round trip flights were organized to and from Germany, which secured significant ease for all members of the consular delegation. This could never have been achieved without the efforts and assistance of the Tunisian authorities and businesses as well as all those who have contributed to ensuring a safe return to all German nationals. Thank you very much for your incredible efforts, for the work you have accomplished and for your collaboration in meeting this great challenge, ”read the press release.
