Tunisia- Democratic Current boycotts Kais Saied’s project, the referendum and the legislative elections

In an interview to a private radio, the Democratic Current general secretary  Ghazi Chaouachi revealed that political parties form one of the fundamental bases of democracy. “We cannot speak about democracy in the absence of political parties. For this, we attempted to establish a representative democracy after the revolution,” he said.

Remarking on the political situation in Tunisia, Chaouachi clarified that the President of the Republic Kais Saied has not drawn up a roadmap but rather a timetable for executing his political project. “We boycott this project which has been inflicted on Tunisians with all these stages including the referendum and the legislative elections. Nevertheless, we are open to early elections provided that it is in a participatory and collaborative way” adds Chaouachi.
