Tunisia-Ennahdha categorically refuses the dissolution of the CSM

Ennahdha released a press release on Monday, February 7, 2022, after the meeting of its executive office chaired by Rached Ghannouchi to respond to the decision taken by the President of the Republic to dissolve the Superior Council of the Judiciary (CSM ).

The movement identified, firstly, that justice is an independent power specifying that the CSM guarantees to provide it with guarantees of its impartiality. Therefore, the judiciary comprises one of the pillars of the democratic foundation. Ennahdha has consequently expressed its categorical rejection of this unconstitutional decision, emphasising that the President of the Republic has put his hand on the service of justice to master it and exploit it in order to eradicate his political opponents and consecrate his absolute power. .

The Islamist movement has therefore expressed its absolute readiness to campaign alongside all the components of the political scene and civil society to revoke this unjust decision, calling on the security forces to secure the safety of the president of the CSM and that of all magistrates following the incitement campaigns carried out against them.

Ennahdha specifies, in this sense, that the president of the CSM is the subject of death threats. The movement confirmed that the separation of powers and the independence of justice are irreversible constitutional achievements, underlining that the decision of the President of the Republic is a flagrant violation of what remains of the Constitution.
