The 3,300 European companies based in Tunisia provide 400,000 direct jobs, this was revealed by the Ministry of Industry, Energy and Mines during the meeting with the Minister of Industry Fatma Thabet Chiboub and Marcus Cornaro, Ambassador of the European Union to Tunisia in the attendance of Jean Luc Revéreault, the representative of the European Investment Bank in Tunisia.
As a reminder, 88% of foreign direct investments in Tunisia are European investments present primarily in the sectors of agri-food, electrical and mechanical industries, energy, textiles clothing and mining.
In 2023, Tunisian exports to the European Union (70.3% of total exports) grew by 12.3%. This development is clarified by the increase in our exports to several European partners, such as France (+10.7%), Italy (+17.5%), Germany (+9.8%), Spain (+26.9%), and the Netherlands (11.1%).
As for Tunisian imports with the European Union (43.5% of total imports), they recorded a drop of -8.1% to stand at 34,455.3 MD.
