Tunisia-Fight against corruption: dissatisfied, Kais Saied calls for a new approach

During the award ceremony for the 5th edition of the Sheikh Tamim Ben Hamad Al Thani Anti-Corruption Award of Excellence which took place yesterday, Wednesday, December 9, the President of the Republic Kaïs Saïed concluded that The laws and authorities set in place to combat corruption have not attained their noble objectives.

He emphasised, to develop a new strategy based on the fight against the actual causes at the origin of the increase of this scourge which irks state institutions and societies in many parts of the world.

“Among the principal factors that have supported the spread of corruption, the unjust distribution of wealth internally and between countries,” he stated, considering that decreasing the prevalence of corruption depends on efficient justice. and independent as well as respect for the dignity of all, reports the TAP agency.

For his part, the Attorney General of the State of Qatar and Chairman of the Council of Secretaries of the Center for the Rule of Law and the Fight against Corruption, Ali Ben Fetais Al-Marri declared that the choice of Tunisia to host the 5th edition of this award attests to the solid conviction of President Saïed’s attachment to the values ​​of justice, integrity and the fight against corruption.

INLUCC President Imed Boukhris remarked that the choice of Tunisia to host the award ceremony is a great opportunity to reaffirm the steadfast determination to fight corruption by all means.

The 5th edition of this prize is held at the initiative of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime and the Qatari Center for the Rule of Law and the Fight against Corruption in collaboration with the President of the Republic and the National Anti-Corruption Authority (INLUCC).
