Tunisia: filling rate of dams reaches 24.4%

Over the past 24 hours, our country has registered significant amounts of rainfall. Record rainfall rates were registered in the governorates of Ben Arous, Sousse, as well as Mahdia.

This precipitation contributed to the improvement in the filling rate of dams, attaining 24.4% as of December 18, 2023, according to the Tunisian Weather and Climate Observatory, while this rate is predicted to increase significantly in the coming hours. It was around 23.5%, until December 15, 2023.

Water supplies during December or revenues from Tunisian dams amounted to 12 million m3 for water reserves in dams assessed at 564 million m3, compared to an average recorded over the last three years. , of 859.8 million m3.

A significant improvement was registered in revenues from the Sidi Salem dam. Among the most important dams which recorded an increase in water revenues over the past week, also include the Berbera, Bouhertma and Sejnane dams in particular.
