The manager of the agricultural workers’ file at the Tunisian Economic and Social Rights Forum (FTDES), Hayet Attar, stated that there are issues involving the rights of agricultural workers and their precarious economic and social situation.
Speaking to Express FM, Attar stressed that a basic union of agricultural workers has been set up in the delegation of Jbenyana but without it being active. The contact was set with the FTDES to organize a sit-in at the national level and several governorates were associated like Kairouan and Sidi Bouzid to wear the slogan “Recognize us”.
She clarified that more than half a million women work in the agricultural sector and that they ask to be recognized as a workforce and to receive their rights as workers, social security, coverage of health and assurance of safe and decent transport.
She also confirmed that these women are the victims of economic, material and moral violence.
