Thirty -eight people tested positive for COVID-19 after 524 tests were carried out on samples taken from people suspected of having the virus, interim Local Health Director in Gabés Yahia Hamdi announced.
29 of the infections are reported in El Hamma and western El Hamma while the remaining nine are distributed in the region.
A seventh death was also reported in El Hamma for a woman born in 1937, the same source added.
