Tunisia-Germany donates medical equipment to military hospital in Tunis

A German military aircraft packed with medical equipment arrived Wednesday morning at the Tunis Carthage airport, the TAP reported.
It is a contribution of medical equipment from the German Federal Government to the army hospital in Tunis as part of Tunisian-German collaboration to fight the coronavirus.
With an approximated worth of €80 thousand (about 256 thousand dinars), these aids consist of 5,000 diagnostic test kits, Coronavirus screening devices and laboratory units.
The donation handover ceremony took place in the attendance of Head of the Virology Department at the Tunis military hospital Colonel Major Mohamed Ben Moussa and German Ambassador in Tunis Andreas Reinicke.
In a statement to TAP, the German ambassador indicated that this donation represents the 4th measure under the cooperation between the two countries since the start of the spread of Coronavirus.
He praised Tunisia’s experience in fighting the spread of the pandemic, especially the role of civil society in managing the COVID-19 crisis, pointing out that the joint actions between Tunisia and Germany to combat the pandemic are part of the “biological safety and health security” programme that has been underway for several years.
Germany recently handed over a mobile microbiological analysis laboratory to the National Defence Ministry and the first donation of medical equipment last March. The total value of the aid granted by Germany to the Tunisian health services since the beginning of the pandemic reached €280,000 (about 894,000 dinars), according to a press release issued by the German Embassy in Tunis
