Tunisia-Haykel Mekki calls on police unions not to get implicated in political quarrels

Echâab member  Haykel Mekki believed that it is inconceivable to tell that Tunisia is a police state by referring to exceptional excesses committed by the police, confirming that his party opposes the aggressive and illegal practice of police.

In a statement to Express FM, he added that the adjective policeman is employed from a political point of view which is part of the refractory process of the July 25 and referendum, calling on the authorities to apply the law and to pursue the responsible for the excesses perpetrated in order to anticipate the return of the police state.

Mekki cautioned, in this sense, against the speech of incitement targeting the security institution insofar as it is required to put things into perspective and avoid involving them in political conflicts.

He called on the police unions to play their social role by avoiding going beyond their boundaries by getting involved in quarrels that can jeopardize social peace.
