Tunisia-Hussein Rahili: “Recent rainfalls will contribute to relieving pressure on supplementary irrigation water” [Video]

In a statement to Tunisie Numérique, today, Friday, April 12, 2024, water resources expert Hussein Rhaili noted that the amounts of rain registered during the past hours are considered respectable amounts, remarking that their variation is considered a normal matter given the climatic changes that the country is seeing, which impacted the redistribution of the rain map in Tunisia.

Rahili added that although these rains covered nearly all regions of the country, dams in some areas stopped them from benefiting from this rain, particularly after recording a significant climb in temperatures in recent weeks, which caused a major drought in the land.

The same source stated that the regions of the south, especially the southeast, will profit from these rains, as the benefit will be great for the planting of olive trees and summer seasonal agriculture.

Our speaker said that although these rains will not positively affect the dams’ reserves, they will contribute to easing the pressure on supplementary irrigation water.
